Microneedling Q&A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is an aesthetic treatment to increase your skin’s collagen production. Collagen is a protein that provides structure and support for your skin, and keeps your skin tight and supple. Around age 30, you start producing less collagen and your skin can begin to wrinkle, thin, and sag.

At the same time, cell turnover begins to slow. That means new skin cells can’t replenish old ones quickly enough, leading to visible sun damage, brown spots, and uneven pigmentation and texture.

By stimulating new collagen, strengthening existing fibers, and boosting blood circulation, microneedling can rejuvenate the skin.

How does microneedling work?

Traditional microneedling uses a device that includes dozens of fine needles. These needles penetrate your skin to prompt your body’s natural healing response. During the process, your body sends collagen and oxygen-rich blood to the treatment areas to repair damage, which tightens and rejuvenates your skin.

At The Collagen Bar, the expert skin care team proudly offers Morpheus8 RF microneedling. The tissue remodeling platform combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to penetrate deeper layers of your skin. Radiofrequency energy enhances collagen stimulation and promotes fatty tissue remodeling to reduce and contour fat.

Morpheus8 RF microneedling can transform the skin’s appearance around the face, neck, décolletage, and chest.

Which skin concerns can microneedling address?

Morpheus8 RF microneedling targets a wide range of skin concerns, such as:

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Wrinkles and facial creases
  • Jowling
  • Sagging skin
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Sun damage
  • Brown spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks

Microneedling can also help restore lost volume in the mid-face area for a more youthful appearance.

What can I expect from microneedling?

When you arrive for your treatment, your skin care specialist applies a topical anesthetic to your skin to minimize discomfort. Next, the device penetrates the surface of your skin and delivers radiofrequency energy. While you may feel slight tugging, pulling, and a warming sensation, the procedure process should be comfortable.

Your skin may appear red and feel sensitive after microneedling, similar to a sunburn, but these effects should subside within 1-2 days.

How many microneedling treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you need depends on the skin concerns you hope to target. Most patients see visible results after only 2-4 treatments*.
